The following information is for those who have been sent an e-mail notification about their passports or ID cards applied for in Manchester being ready and having been delivered to the Consulate General of Hungary in Manchester.
Should you wish to use your newly issued travel document for an upcoming trip, it is strongly recommended that you do not purchase any travel tickets until you have received the document and checked the personal data contained therein.

+-Collection of passports in the Consulate General of Hungary in Manchester
You may collect the document in the Consulate General in Manchester only after booking an appointment for „Collection of new passports or other documents”.

When coming to your appointment, please make sure you bring along:
• the application form given to you by your consular administrator, and
• your previous passport to be invalidated, in case it was given back to you at the time of your application.
Minors’ passports may be collected by any of the parents entitled to submit the application on their own – however, they must present a valid form of identification (passport, ID card or driving licence).
Passports are stored by the consulate for a year. Any passports not collected within a year from the receipt of our first notification email will be sent back to Hungary to the issuing authority for having them destroyed.
+-Collection of ID cards in the Consulate General of Hungary in Manchester
You may collect the document in the Consulate General in Manchester only after booking an appointment for „Collection of new ID card(s)”.

When coming to your appointment, please make sure you bring along:
• the application form given to you by your consular administrator, and
• the envelope containing the PIN card that you were given at the time of your application (you will still be able to collect and use the ID card without the PIN card – please refer to the information below), and
• your previous ID card to be invalidated in case it was given back to you at the time of your application.
Children over the age of 14 may collect their ID cards without the need for parental consent.
Minors’ passports may be collected by any of the parents entitled to submit the application on their own – however, they must present a valid form of identification (passport, ID card or driving licence).
The activation of the electronic function of the ID card is to be done with the assistance of our colleague upon collection. You will need to have the PIN card ready and provide a 6-digit code of your choice.
If your PIN card is lost before the activation, you may have it replaced only in a government office in Hungary. Our colleagues at the consular office cannot recover the PUK code that was blocked when entering the incorrect PIN.
You cannot start using the electronic functions assigned to your ID card without having them activated by using the PIN card first – however, you will still be able to use your ID card itself for travel purposes and for personal identification.
ID cards are stored by the consulate for a year. Any ID cards not collected within a year from the receipt of our first notification email will be sent back to Hungary to the issuing authority for having them destroyed.
+-Postal delivery of passports
The Consulate General in Manchester will send out a notification email and post the passports within 3 working days using Royal Mail services (as “signed for” delivery).
All deliveries receive their unique tracking number generated automatically by Royal Mail on the day of postage.
The consulate does not take any responsibility for the Royal Mail services or for any losses or damages that may occur during delivery. Should you not receive your document within 8 days after having received our notification email, please doublecheck whether there are any circumstances regarding Royal Mail that could justify the delay (e.g. strike action).
Should this not be the case, please get in touch with us
via email as soon as possible to have the tracking number assigned by the Royal Post so that you could track possible delivery failures (e.g. whether the delivery address was entered incorrectly) at the provider.

Should there be any changes to the postal address provided at the time of the application, it is the responsibility of the applicant to have the postal deliveries redirected to your new address as follows:
• in case of deliveries to a Hungarian address, such enquiries can be made to the provider
Magyar Posta;
• in case of deliveries to a UK address, you may enquire at
Royal Mail.
Passports returned back to the consulate and marked as ‘not called for’ are stored for one year. Any passports not collected within a year from the receipt of our first notification email will be sent back to Hungary to the issuing authority for having them destroyed.
+-Postal delivery of ID cards
As a main rule, new ID cards cannot be delivered by post as the activation of its electronic functions has to be done with the assistance of our colleagues. For the activation, you will need to have the PIN card ready and provide a 6-digit code of your choice.
Activating the PIN code can be done from the comfort of your home using the eSzeméyiM mobile application.
A smartphone with the following main parameters is required for using the eSzemélyiM application:
• operating system Android 7 or iOS 13 or higher
• NFC reading capability
• Internet connection – on a network shared with the computer
With the eSzemélyiM mobile application you can use your smartphone as a card reader as well, it can thus substitute special USB card readers.
