Please note that consular services are by appointment only.

You will need to book an appointment online by providing your personal data and contact details (e-mail address and phone number). 

Appointments must be booked in our online appointment booking system for the following services:

  • Passport application
  • ID application
  • Stolen or lost passport, ID card
  • Registration of life events (birth, marriage, divorce, death; Acknowledgement of paternity, change of name)
  • Legalization (signature, translation, copy, Proof of being alive)
  • Address changes, Declaration of settlement abroad
  • Issuing and obtaining certificates
  • Ügyfélkapu (‘Client Gate’) registration
  • Collection of new passports or other documents
  • Certificate of family status
  • Certificate of good character

Important! Appointments must be booked by e-mail (konz.man@mfa.gov.hu) for the following consular services:

  • consular protection (for Hungarian citizens)
  • child protection and cases of guardianship
  • emergency passports (for Hungarian citizens)
  • Hungarian citizenship, simplified naturalization
  • permission for repatriation of a deceased body
  • declaration of the intention to marry

Appointment policy: 7 days prior to your appointment, our system will send you a reminder email through which you must confirm or cancel your booking within 48 hours. Out of respect to other clients who may need appointment, we kindly request that you cancel your booking using the link provided in the email, if you no longer need your appointment or you are unable to attend. If you fail to confirm your booking within 48 hours of the reminder email being sent, your appointment will be automatically cancelled.

  • Please note that one appointment applies to one consular service for one person only. Please book for the “basic” service you need. 
  • If you book more appointments for the same consular service, all of the appointments will be cancelled by the Consulate without prior notice.
  • Please make sure that you arrive in time for your appointment. In case you no longer need your appointment or you are unable to attend, please cancel it in advance. If you fail to confirm your booking within 48 hours of the reminder email being sent, your appointment will be automatically cancelled.
  • Please note that we use the same booking system, therefore we are not able to offer earlier appointments.

Preparations to be done

  • Requirements for each application can be found on the relevant pages of the website. Please read them carefully.
  • If you have further questions please send an e-mail to konz.man@mfa.gov.hu.
  • Please download and fill in all the required documents before coming to the Consulate. If you fail to prepare your application properly, you might be advised to book a new appointment and come back later.
  • Consular fees can be paid by debit card. List of consular fees can be downloaded from the website (“Consular fees”).

At the Consulate

  • Please arrive on time to your appointment. In case of delay you might be asked to book a new appointment and come back later.
  • There is no fast-track procedure at the Consulate. The expected length of the proceedings can be found on the website but this is for information only.
  • In most of the cases, the Consulate only receives the applications and forward them to the competent Hungarian authority, therefore we are unable to speed up the procedures. If you wish to get an update on your case, please contact directly the competent Hungarian authority.
  • You will be informed about the outcome of the procedure via email, phone or by post.
